Endometriosis Definition
Endometriosis - The presence of endometrial-like tissue found throughout the body.
Getting the definition wrong causes harm to those living with the disease. Endometriosis is NOT just a bad period. Symptoms can be both chronic and cyclical. Treating Endometriosis as though it is displaced endometrial tissue does a disservice to patients seeking effective treatment.
Google and Oxford Languages’ current definition reads, “ a condition resulting from the appearance of endometrial tissue outside the uterus and causing pelvic pain.”
